About UsCamp Horseshoe Equestrian Center (C.H.E.C.) is family-owned and operated in Prosperity, SC. Since our equestrian center opened in 1998, we’ve treated every camper like they are a part of our family. C.H.E.C. offers many services including Saddle Club, Day Camp, Adventure Camp, boarding, and riding lessons.
C.H.E.C. is owned and run by its beloved owner Wilton Dennis. Wilton was born on the property and grew up in the Columbia area at Epworth Children's Home. He later graduated from the University of Georgia with a degree in physical education. During his time in Atlanta, GA he worked as Recreation Director for a Methodist church, serving over 4,000 families. In 1998, Wilton returned to his birthplace and created what is now known as Camp Horseshoe Equestrian Center. Making sure to stick to his roots, Wilton is still heavily involved with Epworth Children's Home and aims to please the Midlands through C.H.E.C.. |
Our Philosophy |
Camp Horseshoe, through a dynamic program of friendship building recreation, seeks to provide a variety of situations in which people may experience growth in nature and human relationships.

Facilities |
Activities are centered at our clubhouse, the Old Dawkins' Home Place that was built in 1850. The farmhouse is used as camp headquarters for restrooms, changing areas, and crafts. Its rustic charm and beauty are enhanced by the garden and pond. Campers learn horse care and handling in our barn complete with 12x12 stalls, a tack room, and feed room, ride in our large, show ready arena, swim in our above ground pool, play games and sports, complete arts and crafts, participate in archery, and hike our 105 acres, plus more. We love our camp!
